There's lots to do within a short drive of Pacific City. If you're coming out for more then just the BIG DAY or are looking for something to do Saturday morning or Sunday here's some ideas that we have endorsed.
The beach at Pacific City is excellent and has great walking both North and South. If you walk South you'll have miles of wide-open beach and eventually get to the Jetty where Sea Lions hang out (be warned this is a multi-hour walk!). Walk to the North and you'll quickly come to Cape Kiwanda; there's some great walking up the dune from the beach with cool sand/rock formations and awesome views! Please, stay on the trails. . . the Coast Guard are cool people but we don't want to have to call them out!
Cape Lookout State Park has some excellent hikes and another very interesting beach. It's about a twenty five minute drive north of the Pelican/Pacific City.
Newport, Oregon, about an hour south of Pacific City, is a very cool town with lots of options for shopping, eating (and drinking!) and hanging out. Of course, it's also the home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium-- a favorite of fishes everywhere.
Manzanita, Oregon, about an hour north of Pacific City, is another favorite spot of ours. It's a chill little town with a great beach and much more toned-down then many of the coast towns along 101. Our 2nd choice for the wedding. You can go see what could have been.
There's more ideas to be found, but we can't take credit for any of these. Of course, you could just hang out with us. That'd be pretty cool too.
